Is there a difference between copywriting and copyrighting?

Is there a difference between copywriting and copyrighting?

Yes!

Copywriting is the act of writing copy.

Copy is the text used to advertise (essentially, sell) a product or increase public awareness of that product or brand: this could be on a brochure, a website, on the back of a cereal packet, or pretty much anywhere that will get seen or heard by the public.

Copyrighting is the act of securing a copyright.

Copyright is a legal protection of your work - it’s free and you don’t actually have to do anything apart from be the creator – it’s automatically protected by law. The moment you create something, be it a poem, a book, a blog, an article or other, you own it: this is the same for illustrations, photographs, audio and video recordings.
